What To Do During Off-Season

The ski resorts are closing, the elk refuge rides have wrapped up and the snow is melting quickly, making cross-country skiing and snowshoeing a bit iffy.

So what is there to do in Jackson during the Spring off-season?  Here are a few ideas.

1. Bike The Park Roads: The Grand Teton Park and Yellowstone Park roads are plowed and open to biking and pedestrian traffic.  This is a fun way to see the Parks without any car traffic.  Please check which roads are open in Yellowstone and be very aware of your surroundings.  The wildlife in Yellowstone use the roads as their trails while the snow is melting, so give them the right of way and plenty of space.  Grand Teton Park roads open to vehicle traffic on April 30th and Yellowstone roads begin opening on April 21st. Click here for road information.

2. Easter Egg Hunt: The annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Town Square is Saturday, April 15th at 10:00 am for children from 1-8 years old.  This annual tradition is fun for everyone and features thousands of eggs, prizes and fun characters who will delight the children and adults alike.  The event is sponsored by the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce and Wells Fargo bank.

3. 2-For-1 Dinners: While many restaurants in Jackson close during the off-season, those that stay open typically offer 2-for-1 entrée options, or other special deals to encourage dining out.  Take advantage of these offers, gather a group of friends together and try a new restaurant or new menu item.  Watch the Jackson Hole News & Guide, The Planet, or Dishing JH for more information on your options.

4. Visit The Gym: Yes, summer is just around the corner, are you physically ready for your summer activities?  Hiking, golf, tennis, biking, they all use muscles that may be different from your winter routine.  Talk with your favorite trainer and make sure you are ready for your summer adventures.

5. Wildlife & Photography Tours:  Spring is a wonderful time to view the new wildlife babies and the many animals that are coming out of hibernation.  And, since the crowds have not yet arrived, this is the perfect opportunity to explore those secret spots the guides and photographers keep in their back pocket.  With a variety of wildlife tour companies and photography safari options, you can find the one perfect for your needs.

6. 35th Annual Home Show: There’s no better time than off-season to address your home improvement projects.  The Jackson Hole News & Guide Home Show is April 21-23 at the Snow King Sports and Events Center from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  You’ll find one-stop shopping for an endless array of home products and services.  Exhibitors will be ready to answer your questions and provide suggestions for your project list. Click here for more information.

7. Take A Class: Central Wyoming Community College and the Art Association of Jackson Hole have a variety of classes for you to explore during the off-season.  Learn Photoshop, improve your Excel skills, learn how to paint, draw or throw a clay pot.  These two organizations offer so many creative classes to keep you busy, and before you know it, summer will have arrived and you won’t have noticed!

Enjoy your off-season and we look forward to welcoming our members back to 3 Creek when we open for the summer season on May 9th.
